Hi there -

So, I'm new to Atlanta, and am looking to replace my GSX-R1000, which was stolen about 5 weeks ago in Milwaukee. Insurance should get me a check this week or early next.
I've been bike shopping, and am interested in getting a sporting twin this time. I'd love to hear some input on the impromptu comparison that was put before me at a local dealership yesterday: a Honda RC-51 v. a Suzuki SV1000S. Basically, it'd be fantastic to hear some riding impressions of either/both bikes, and some thoughts on the prices they're charging. Here's the summary:

2003 Suzuki SV1000S
11,000 miles, $6500 otd.
Yoshimura slip-ons, otherwise stock.

2005 Honda RC-51
1159 miles, $9999
Sato slip-ons, tank protector, sargeant seat.

The salesman started and rode both for me in the parking lot. They both look and sound great, but the edge in looks and bark goes to the Honda. It is, however, seemingly high priced..... Kelley bluebook has it at $8250-8650; NADA at $7300-9620.

Any thoughts? What would you buy - why? :moto:

Any insight is appreciated! Thank you,

Cam

If you are riding track, it seems that the RC-51 wins out but if you want to ride in the twisties, the SV is the way to go.

Have you picked one yet? Which one?

Sorry for the delayed response - I've been traveling for work and exceptionally busy the last few days.
I bought the RC51 on Saturday. It rocks. Rode it to Deal's Gap and highly enjoyed the twisties once I got there. The bike is surprisingly comfortable, except for the aftermarket seat that's rock hard, but well-shaped.

Is anybody heading out this weekend who'd like some company? I'm definitely ready to ride Saturday & Sunday. :D

I love the RC51s. But the only thing to me is that they look freaking huge. Like the size of a Hyabusa but not quite the power. Which I know they are powerful bikes but I'd like to see that V-twin on a smaller frame.
