Hi! My name is Ellen, I live in Decatur and I just brought home my first real bike yesterday. By "real", I mean that my last one was a '79 Honda U7E scooter. I haven't ridden by myself in 15 years! I'm not a spring chicken anymore (56 years young) so I decided that if I intend to ride I better get going with it! Plan to attend the school later, but for now I have so many biker buddies (oldschool mostly) just itching to teach me so I think I'll let them for a while at first. My ride is a '06 Honda CMX250 Rebel. Figured I better use common sense & not bite off more than I can chew. Anyway, hopefully I'll be up to speed by fall 'coz my goal is to do the Trail of Tears ride in Sept.! :moto:

Welcome Ellen!

It's great that you've signed up for a riding school. There, you'll learn the proper beginnings of riding a motorcycle. The people you meet there will be some of the nicest people you'll ever get to know.

I'm always wary when I hear of someone learning how to ride a motorcycle from "friends". Often times they will encourage you to ride beyond your abilities because they've forgotten the steps that they themselves learned on their way to being a comfortable rider. Please don't let that happen. If you pick a friend to help you get started, please pick one that is cautious, patient, and will teach you the fundamentals. This will make your riding both safer, and more enjoyable.

Good luck, have fun, and be safe. :thumb:
