After begging the boss, I finally got a day off during the week :D
Having read about what was happening at the Tail of the Dragon, the wife and I decided to spend some time riding around North Georgia. We rode 180, 17 and 348...also checked out Helen (beware the cops there, even the locals say they are pretty strict). It was a nice ride but WOW it was hot!
The scorching heat was only repelled by the very infrequent shaded stretches of road or the occasional restaurant for something cold to drink.
Hey, it was an inferno but at least I was riding!

 In no way am I trying to flame on you, but I've been riding for over 20 years. 17 of them on sports bike's and have been riding the North Georgia mountain area for 15 of that and never in the 15 years ever had any problems with local authorities county or state never found them overly aggressive or hard to deal with. I Have found them on more than one occasion to be understanding of the problem with the throttle and am in the area at least once a month on a weekend and ride with a mixed group of sports bike's and occasionally a cruiser or two in the group have just ridden Wolfs Pen Gap and Blood Mountain this past weekend and then on over to Helen for lunch and then the ride back to the metro area. We rode a total of 400 + miles on Saturday and spent at least two hours and a half in Helen. Now Helen itself has a small law enforcement department to enforce such a large community on the weekends. Now because of that they must have very little tolerance for those unwilling to comply with their first warning. Maybe that is what you are referring to but to say that they are very strict is a overstatement
btw not a member of law enforcement about as far away from it as you can get

No offense taken! We never had any trouble with the police while we were there (as a matter of fact, we never saw a police officer). We were just told by locals that they local police could be pretty strict...maybe they got a ticket recently :D
I too have found that most police officers leave motorcyclists alone if you are riding responsibly. And most of the riders I know are just out for a ride not an adrenaline rush (they reserve that for the track).
