My first few days here and I've already found a pretty sweet area. THe possibility for getting a knee down is quite possible. All you do is drive north on Route 400/19. Just keep following signs for route 19 once you come to the end of the 4 lane highway. I'd say its about 30-45 minutes outside atlanta I285.
now, why havnt you left yet?

The north Georgia mountiains around Dahlonega and Suches are a blast. It's a popular destination. Nothing like riding your bike in the twisties!!!
Have fun and ride safe!
Another way to get there, if you have the time, is to ride up Hwy9 (but start at Cumming to avoid all the city traffic below). Not as fast but more scenic.
:moto:
Or...take Auraria Road, parallel to 400, and also scenic. It T's into 136 just west of where 136 crosses 400.
Back on 400/ Long Branch/ Copper Mine Road you will come to the end at Cavender Creek Road. You can go left and keep straight into Dahlonega and you will end up just north of town on 19, or go to the next right about 1-2 miles at Town Creek Church Road, and follow it to its end- you can go right and quickly left onto Adair Mill, and this will take you to 129 above Cleveland. Go left, and this will become Damascus Church and come out on 19 just down from Turner's Corner. Grab one of the "Georgia Mountain" road maps at a convenience store and you will find many other cut-throughs that will get you from A to B without using major roads- I live up here and find it's a lot more fun, in the fall especially.
