Weatherman is calling for moring temps in the mid-20s next week. My ride to work is 30+ miles. I've been doing some research into heated gear, gloves, grips, jacket liner, seat, etc. Anyone using any heated gear of any kind? Can you give some advice on which works best for you?

Wish I could help you out. When it gets cold, I just layer up.
Check out the upcoming Cycle World IMS show to compare products.
Good luck

30+ miles in 20 degree weather? Geeeez, drive your cage, that's too fricken cold!!
I will ride in the uper 30's confortably without heated apparel, just a good riding jacket, good riding over-pants and good gloves...oh yea, and something to cover my neck (I use a light jacket under my riding jacket that zips all the way up into the collar making a wind-proof turtle neck).
The biggest problem I have is keeping my visor from fogging. If I crack it open, my face gets cold, if I leave it closed it fogs. However, I am about to purchase a Pinlock visor because I have read that they do not fog.
I have heard good things about heated gear, but I don't have experience.
Glad to know there is at least one other crazy SOB out there riding in this weather.

Went down to CycleCity and ordered the Tourmaster Synergy Electric Gloves today. I've done some research on quite a few brands and these seem to be the best overall value. All the wiring and controller come with the gloves at no extra cost. I have seen a few reviews that said the gloves didn't heat, but quite a few others that said they get almost too hot on the high setting. On another forum one poster said that if they weren't heating they were either a dud pair or connected improperly. That's the reason I ordered them through a shop, if there's any problem (like getting a dud pair) they'll take of it. Once it gets cold again I'll let you know how they work.

I'll be looking for your review, JW. I've been thinking about getting a pair of heated gloves myself.
Don't think you'll need them for the next few days with temps near 80. :moto:

Got the TourMaster Synergy Electric gloves (my wife and I gave each other a pair for Christmas) and they're working great. We hooked them up to the bikes the day after Christmas after I got home from work and went for a 45 minute ride at around 34 degrees. We couldn't feel the cold at all. I wore them to work the next day (50 minutes or so each way) in the low 40s and again, my hands were nice and toasty.
The wiring was easy to install and the gloves themselves are quite comfortable. Much less bulky than the non-electric winter gloves I was using, which didn't keep my hands warm at temperatures in the mid 40s for much over 30 minutes.
What really sold us on the TourMaster gloves was that all the wiring and controllers were included in the package, unlike some of the other electric models.

Sounds like an awesome product.
They make vests too. Have you tried one of them?

Not yet. They make vests, jacket liners and pant liners. So far it hasn't gotten cold enough to tempt me to try anything but the gloves.

Those gloves will come in handy the next couple of days with the temps into the teens. I don't think I'll be riding until Friday or Saturday when the highs will be back into the 50's.

The biggest problem I have is keeping my visor from fogging. If I crack it open, my face gets cold, if I leave it closed it fogs. However, I am about to purchase a Pinlock visor because I have read that they do not fog.
I got a Redhead Poly(Something) ski mask from BassPro. It blocks wind fairly well but if you can breathe easy. And even if you breathe hard it won't fog your visor up.
I rode yesterday and just layered up. I did have a big poofy jacket that wanted to blow me all over the road. But really wasn't that bad except for cold tires.
I'm going to get heated grips eventually but the only problem is I know if you get enough eletronic stuff it puts a strain on your charging system.

I have a full set of heated riding gear from Gerbing (http://www.gerbing.com/). I have the full sleeve liner, gloves and pants. Its the best investment I've ever made in riding gear.

Myself don't like all the wires.I got hot grips w/vari control that work great. You can go out and it's nice and then come home in a cold rain.Did I say water proof and life time warranty. You don't have to bring more gloves for different temps. just flip the switch
