Another biker bites the dust in Cumming because some {insert your preferred explitive here} illegally crossed where he shouldn't have in the path of a biker. :headbang: :rulez:

I've been meaning to get a headlight modulator to help me be seen and to get through my (at least) first year of riding.

Any advice on the following:

Diamond Star Headlight Modulator (http://www.visiblemoto.com/proddetail.asp?prod=sdc01014&from=19), $69
Kisan PathBlazer Headlight Modulator (http://www.visiblemoto.com/proddetail.asp?prod=PathB&from=19), $104
... any others I should consider but haven't listed?

I'm also looking for tail light modulators too but they're cheaper. Perhaps I'll purchase the tail light modulator from the same manufacturer that I get the head light modulator.

Thanks.

Did you ever purchase these modulators? If so, how did they work out for you?:thumb:

The weather has taken a turn for the better and I've dusted off the motorcycle after about three weeks of non-riding. I was nervous but I've got to remind myself that I've only had the bike for about three months.

So, I start out on my normal safe loop on a lunchtime ride and wow! what a difference! The cars that I'm meeting really notice me and move over. They're almost driving on the shoulder of the road. Excellent. Sometimes I'm afraid for the cage driver that they're going to crash because they've moved over so far.

I went on a longer drive the other day on a road that I hadn't ever rode the bike on and it was nice to see the cars really taking notice of me. One time, as I was approaching a 4 way stop, another SUV reached the intersection just before me. The driver looked over and saw me for the first time approaching the intersection and she about jumped out of her seat. I don't think she would have seen me without my modulating headlight.

What's also nice, is that I can turn it off just by switching back to my regular headlight, not the high beams.

Well worth the $90. Now I need to install the brake light modulator so I don't get rear-ended. http://www.comagination.com/

I just put one on my bike and people really notice it. The one that was recomended to me is Several people recomended it from another forum, and it works with LED's and regular bulbs. I was delivered in a few days.

I tried to mount the brake light modulator yesterday ... but couldn't figure out how to get the housing off of the brake lights.

I thought that if I removed the cover, that there would be more screws inside allowing me to remove it. Nope. I looked under my rear fender and there are some bolts in there. I wonder if I need to remove those to get to the housing.

The Comagination electronics are small at about one cubic inch. but I've to to get them installed inside of the housing. My service manual isn't too much help in showing how to remove this thing.

Crazy. I'll keep trying though. :headbang:

Being new to the sport and the website, I had not a clue what and why a headlight modulator was ... so I did a little research. Here is a website that has an interactive picture of the headlight. I'm getting one of those! maybe 2. :moto:

I have a headlight modulator on both my Triumph and BMW. They do work very well. Sometimes I even have cage drivers stop to tell me my head light is flashing. If you decide to run dual headlight modulators, make sure you buy them as a kit. It is required by law that modulating dual headlights flash together. Alternating flashing headlights are reserved for the police and road construction crews. Ron
