A rock slide on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Maggie Valley could close the road for weeks. The most recent slide happened Friday opposite the Cranberry Ridge Overlook at milepost 452.1, closing the parkway from milepost 443 south of Waynesville to milepost 455 at Soco Gap.
