Authorities say a man driving a motorcycle died after he hit a deer on a rural Upson County road. Georgia State Patrol Trooper Don Stewart says 42-year-old James Emory Smith of Thomaston was thrown from his motorcycle into a ditch during the Sunday afternoon accident. Stewart says the deer was also killed. Authorities are unsure how fast Smith was traveling. Stewart says the accident was about 8 or 9 miles outside of Thomaston.
