My Suzuki Volusia 800 came with Tourmaster zip off saddlebags half way installed.

(I'm going to use technical jargon here so hold on.)

The piece that is the strap between the two saddlebags was already installed underneath the seat so I didn't have to do that. There is some sort of soft, rubbery pad that velcros onto the bag, that protects the bag banging into the frame thing that hangs down from the back bumper.

Here's my question: There are strings coming from the edge of each saddlebag that looks like they should be tied to something or to each other. There are five pairs of these strings. I'm not quite sure how to tie them to each other or to tuck them out of the way. I sure don't want these strings to get caught up in the spokes of the bike as I'm running own the road. Ideas? I guess I could post pictures somewhere.

Again, I don't have any manuals. I've been riding the bike without the saddlebags so far but as I'm starting to ride farther, I'd like to have them available to carry stuff. :o :moto:

I am assuming that "the frame thing that hangs down from the back bumper" is a saddlebag stay but take a look at the picture to see if you have the chrome piece that loops down from the fender and back up.

If not, you will need to get a set to keep the saddle bags in place and out of the spokes.

Next the pairs of strings are tied to the saddlebag stays to hold them in place.

Good luck.

I've got the saddlebag stay, sure enough. These cords are really long. I haven't measured them but I would think they're 10 inches per string and there's five pair. I'd have to wrap the strings around the saddlebag stay several times and I'd still have enough for a knot.

Oh well, I guess I'll get tying. Thanks for the reply.
