Does anyone have a motorcycle gps unit? I am trying to compare the Garmin Nuvi 550 with the TomTom Rider 2. Not sure which is better for the money. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks. macman 11-09-2008, 11:47 AM I have the Garmin GPSMAP 276C (was a popular unit - waterproof, rugged) however it wasn't really designed for a motorcycle (right hand controls with small buttons). The two you chose are both good units but I am looking to upgrade to the TomTom Rider2. TomTom seems to be more reasonably priced and comes with everything (including a Scala Rider headset for your helmet but I will probably upgrade that to a Scala Rider Q2). Hope this helps... sherides 03-26-2009, 11:09 AM If you ever decide to get a TomTom Rider, stop by the shop. We have signed up to be a TomTom dealer and (hopefully) should have some soon. vettedog72 03-15-2010, 07:41 PM I have the 550 and like it but I have not had any other GPS' to compare it with. It does have some issues when in the mountains as it may loose the signal when the taller mountains block the satellite. If I had to choose again I would not hesitate in repeating the purchase. Today, I would get the later version. |
