I am looking for an alternative to poker run. I am a member of a motorcycle ministry and we are planning a charity ride. I have coordinated rides in the past but not associated with the ministy and they were poker runs. I don't have a problem with doing a "poker run" but some other members have stated that it may offend others. Has anyone that coordinated or participated in a charity ride do something other than poker run?

You can arrange a treasure hunt. You would need to prearrange stops, give clues to what each participant is looking for and arrange for different directions for each bike so there is no "group" collaboration. The items for pickup should be arranged in advance with the establishment (they will appreciate the business). Good luck

I have seen something very similar, a scavenger hunt. The riders have to go to several different stores and places of interest to look for items with a word written on them and a clue to the next item. The person or team that come back first and assembles the correct sentence wins first place. Second and third are drawn from a hat of correct answers.

I have seen a photo scavanger hunt. This was not a bike ride, but I think it can be fun. You could sell photos of the winners or crowd faviorites.
You give a title or concept to get a picture of. Example (fountain, the word help, a rock group, a police car, some one pumping gas, some one cleaning a windshield. Create some that could be related in some way. The more concepts the better. Teams get to choose the concepts they provide. You limit the number of pictures submitted to 5 or 6 or 7, your decision.
Teams have to use a digital camera with USB port ability or memory card. The team must supply the memory card reader or USB cable. Download the pictures onto a laptop and you can show them as people come in.
Points are given for each concept and if more than one concept is given in one phone, more points are given. Example. photos of 1. a rock group, 2. a fountain and 3. the word help. Photo contains a rock garden surrounding a water fountain with a sign for help wanted. This gets extra point value for having the three in one. four in one more and five in one still more.
There is also a time limit on getting the photos turned in. You can do a shot gun start, give the instructions, tell them the final location and ending time and send them on their way.
prize for picture with the most concepts in it, most points and you can have crowd favorite by vote.
