I have been noticing several people riding with high visibility yellow jackets on recently. The yellow really pops! The bikers wearing them have mainly been touring riders but they do get noticed.
So I did a little searching on the internet and it seems (at least according to the articles) that high visibility yellow jackets (http://www.she-rides.com/blog/2009/02/09/hi-vis-is-in/) are the most popular thing right now.
I am all for being seen on my bike but one of these on my cruiser might be a little much. Take a look and see what you think. Who knows, with the way people are driving (or not driving as the case may be), I may be getting one myself.

Hey, thanks for posting about this!
Since that blog entry was posted, several manufacturers have come out with jackets in High Visibility (Hi-Vis) Yellow:
Fieldsheer Air Tour Mesh Jacket (http://www.she-rides.com/Fieldsheer+Air+Tour+Mesh+Jacket-p-FS0055.html) (available now)
Tourmaster Sonora Mesh Jacket (http://www.she-rides.com/blog/2009/03/20/tourmaster-sonora-air-jacket/) (coming in May)
Fieldsheer Breeze2 Mesh Jacket (coming soon)
Fieldsheer High Flow2 Jacket (coming soon)
Tourmaster Intake2 Jacket (http://www.she-rides.com/Tourmaster+Intake+Series+II+Jacket-p-1037.html) (coming in May)
And these are just the summer jackets. They also have winter/touring jackets and pants in Hi-Vis Yellow.

Do a search for Icon Mil spec motorcycle vest. The "FBI yellow" is the most noticeable in my opinion. I have seen riders use basic safety vests also.

I always go high vis. I've got a black helmet and black gear, which I wear out occasionally, but honestly riding is just less enjoyable when people can't see you. When I wear my high vis gear (white helmet, dayglo jacket or Milspec Vest), I never get cut off, cops give me thumbs up instead of glaring at me, and everyone on the road is more courteous in general. Looking cool is nice and all, but riding is definitely more enjoyable when everyone on the road is aware of you.
Over my black leathers, I wear the dayglo yellow Icon Milspec vest ($55).

For touring and commuting, I got a fantastic Olympia Phantom suit ($450), which is even more visible than the vest. It's also incredibly comfortable, and perfect for long trips or unpredictable weather.

On top I wear a white HJC FS-10, with a helmet halo and some other stickers that reflect white.

High vis is the way to go. In almost 20K miles of riding, I've never once been pulled over, and cops have got nothing for smiles for a rider who's obviously going out of his way to be safe. Everyone on the road in general is more courteous and less likely to cut you off. It's great.

The motorcycle apparel companies seem to be ripping us off though! I know the military requires a hi-vis, mil-spec vest to get on military bases with a motorcycle. But not all of us go on military bases and all they seem to make in hi-vis are the $60-75 mil-spec vests. Yes, I have seen other vests for much less but the quality just isn't there.
Oh well, the search continues!

How do you like the Phantom suit? What made you choose it over the others out there?
