I'm out on the real roads now. I'm good up to about 45 mph. At 50 the wind hitting my chest is starting to cause me worry and at 55 I'm full on white knuckles. Perhaps I'll relax with more miles behind me but I'm thinking a windshield is going to be a must.

I'm looking at some from JC Whitney:

I'm looking for something reasonable in price but that can be adjusted and removed when I'm getting the hankering for the white knuckle experience. ;)

Any other sites I should be shopping at?

I went over to http://cycletrader.com and I did a search on Suzuki Volusia, leaving the zip code field empty. This pulled up all of the Volusias that they have listed from around the country. I clicked on any pictures they had that weren't the stock Suzuki pictures. I think I've got a better idea of the "look" that I'm going for. Perhaps I just need to hop over to Machines In Motion and see what they have in stock.

How did the trip to Machines in Motion work out?

If you still are looking, National Cycle (www.nationalcycle.com (http://www.nationalcycle.com)) makes a highly recommended wind shield. Check them out.

PS - If you are looking for accessories and have problems finding the Suzuki Volusia VL800, in the current Suzuki line, the C50T is the new Volusia.

Unfortunately I ran out of time to get over there. I've got some stuff that I'd like to buy. Windshield, headlight modulator, brake light modulator.

I like the National Cycle windshield but it's $230 *and then* you have to purchase the mounting hardware for $93! I've got to see on in person to see if $300+ is so much better than the $80 option.

The C50T comes with the windshield already plus other goodies, and an extra $1K in the price. I've got more of the equivalent of a C50.

I'll make sure to post when I purchase something. I'll make good use of the 10% discount coupon from the site too!

I won an auction on ebay last night. 2001 Suzuki VL800 Windshield in "good" condition for $36. We'll see what kind of shape it is in when I get it. If its not what I want, I'm just out a couple of bucks and it may save me from having to buy new mounting hardware. Stay tuned!

Awesome! Let us know how that works out for you. That beats paying $300 to National Cycle any day.

Have fun :moto:
