I finally got my own bike on 10/4/06. a 2007 ninja250. After reading info on starter bikes, I was completely turned off with anything bigger. No, i'm not scared, but i do respect the "power".

Well, after a couple of drops and my 1st low-side fall (more like a topple-over into the grass at <10mph)  i'm so so happy i got the smaller bike. And i have to do a breakin period because of the new bike adjustment rule. So with my 1st 500 miles at 4000<rpms, I will get in plenty of practice on my drills.

watch out cobb county.

88 miles in the saddle!:moto: mostly in. the ones on the ground don't count.

Are there any brave souls out that are willing to hang out with a beginning newbie? I'm in mableton and would love to meet up with someone who would like to share a little riding experience with me on the weekends.

 After that car passed me up (i was going 40 in a 45 zone) to only get directly in front of me and stop to make a right turn, i'm beginning to rethink going out alone.

gongrats on your new bike.
You might want to check on a beginner riders course. you will learn all the basics and get your motorcycle licence. Its 200-$ 250 and you can take it at your harley davidson dealer there on thorton road. You be glad you did.
Good luck be safe.

I passed the course in july. until then, i didn't know the gear shift from the clutch and couldn't tell you what the word throttle meant.

when i was in my teens (1970's) my cousin and his friends had motorcycles and i always wanted to know how to ride one. Now, that my family has grown up a little, i can make ME a priority, so i'm kinda following my dream.
but, i'm kinda on my own over here.

so, i read and practice and i ask questions. so far so good. i'm happy.

Way to go! Nothing like your own ride! go get em' It takes awhile to build that confidence level. I still do not care to ride alone, although it has it's advantages! Keep your eyes peeled! Practice Practice Practice... I still almost drop mine somtimes just not paying attention! I have been so busy lately trying to open a business I just don't have time to ride much. Good Luck and Rubber side Down or Shiney Side Up!
